The content available in the LGBTQ Video Game Archive is distributed in the following categories as shown in the graph below. For further analysis in the other visualizations, only the content classified as “characters” has been considered, as it is the most numerous category and the most suitable for the development of data visualization.

The pie chart shows the types of representation between 6 categories, all the 6 of them sum up to a 100%. If you click on one of the slices of the graph the two visualizations on the right change to show data about that category. If you click on the same category again, the dashboard will show the info for the whole database.
The histogram on the lower right shows the number of games (not content entries) that appear in each game genre. The line chart represents the number of games with that theme through the years.
The dendrogram shows content in each major game genre based on the sexual orientation of the characters. The scale is from 1 to 5, in which 1 means few games and 5 means loads of games.
The three most common sexualities in the dataset - Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual - are represented as a horizontal bar, and the dendrogram shows how the genres are related to LGBTQ Content concerning sexual orientations of the characters.
Gender identities were not contemplated because their presence in video games, compared to diverse sexualities, was not sufficient to generate this visualization.
The streamgraph shows the same 6 categories present in the dashboard, but with the release years of their respective games. Each category is represented by a colour and it’s area in the graph represents its presence in the year in comparison to the other categories. It was built in a scale of 2, from 0 to 1 we have the area regarding 3 sexual orientations - Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual - and from 1 to 2 we have 3 gender identities and expressions - Transgender Men and Women, Gender Non-Conforming and Non-binary. The sexualities and gender identities are being treated as different groups, compared within themselves.
Some content on the archive is tagged as “Explicit”, “Implicit” or “Rumored”. In this visualizations we have the distribution of this content, first by country and then by year.
